Smita has a Masters Degree in Counselling from Monash University.
Prior to joining the Promises team, Smita was at We CARE Community Services (Singapore), where she worked with clients in recovery, from across the addiction spectrum. She has also been involved in rehabilitating women who have been victims of trafficking, at Apne Aaap (New Delhi).
Smita’s counselling role at Promises involves working with individual clients and groups. She runs sessions for Pathways, which is an intensive outpatient program for achieving long term sobriety.
In addition she is a trainer and conducts workshops for peers and numerous corporate clients. The topics are tailor made to suit specific client requirements and include motivation, communication, collaboration, anger and stress management skills.
Smita has authored Understanding Addictions, which is a comprehensive and practical guide to accepting and dealing with addictions.
