Amita holds a Masters in Counselling from Monash University in Australia.
While Amita uses a solution-oriented approach and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to help clients with their issues, she also believes in the importance of a therapeutic relationship in achieving successful outcomes. She achieves this by adopting a non-judgmental and client-centered approach in her work.
She is passionate about helping individuals who struggle with mental health issues (e.g. Depression, Anxiety) and personality difficulties (e.g. Borderline Personality, Asocial personality, Obsessive Compulsive Personality) family conflict; and relationship difficulties. Amita’s counselling role at Promises involves working with patients in the outpatient as well as inpatient settings.
Amita has moulded her experience of having lived, worked and studied in various countries with diverse cultures such as Singapore, Denmark, Shanghai, Mumbai into a unique strength – the ability to comprehend issues faced by clients in their unique cultural context from firsthand experience.
