Kaiwei’s clinical experience includes working with children, adolescents and young adults across a range of emotional, behavioural and mental health-related issues, e.g., depression, anxiety, complex trauma, PTSD, school or family-related difficulties, attachment issues, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). She enjoys working with clients across both private and public sectors, and her previous work included being in various primary and secondary schools across Singapore providing counselling/psychotherapy, social skills and art therapy programs.
In her thirteen years of therapy work, Kaiwei holds a special interest and focus in trauma, mood disorders, and attachment work. She is an eclectic practitioner and integrates various modalities in adapting to the needs of each client. She commonly utilizes person-centred, psychodynamic, EMDR, cognitive-behavioural, schema therapy, or solution-focused approaches, and weaves in play therapy or art therapy elements in sessions when appropriate. Kaiwei also believes in the value of working systemically.
A therapy journey can be deeply personal, vulnerable, and also growing. In her work, Kaiwei values warmth and empathy, connecting with one’s unique strengths and potentials, and the importance of creating a safe and self-actualizing space for all.
