Dr Jacob Rajesh is a Senior Consultant Psychiatrist experienced in general adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry.
Dr Rajesh’s professional experience spans three countries. Early in his career, in India, he lectured in the Department of Psychiatry at the Christian Medical College. In the UK, he was largely a consultant psychiatrist while carrying out forensic work at mental health trusts. Finally, in Singapore, he was appointed assistant adjunct professor at the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

In-depth
Dr Jacob Rajesh’s journey as a psychiatrist began at Christian Medical College (Vellore, India). There, he earned his MBBS degree, and continued on to complete his postgraduate degree, M.D. Psychiatry with Madras Medical College. After graduating, Dr Rajesh returned to his alma mater in Vellore, where he lectured in the Department of Psychiatry for 4 years before deciding to move to the United Kingdom.
He flourished in this new environment, obtaining his certificate of completion of specialist training (CCST) from the UK in 2004. During his time in the UK, he earned his chops as a consultant psychiatrist in general adult psychiatry for five years. In addition, Dr Rajesh was also involved in forensic work at Cheshire and Wirral NHS Trust, and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Trust in England. Dr Jacob Rajesh is fully registered with the General Medical Council (UK) as a specialist.
Ever keen to venture forth to new endeavours, Dr Rajesh arrived in Singapore in 2009. For the next six years, he worked as a consultant psychiatrist in the Departments of General Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry in IMH. Currently, he is a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Psychological Medicine, NUH.
His academic prowess and on the ground experience opened the doors to his appointment as an adjunct assistant professor for the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He passionately involved himself with teaching, training, examination and supervision of students and residents in both medical schools.
Dr Rajesh’s professional experience in three different countries, working with a host of cultures and ethnic groups, has bestowed upon him a unique understanding of transcultural psychiatry. He is particularly interested in general adult psychiatry and forensic psychiatry, areas in which he brings to bear his substantial experience.
