Dr. Rebecca Giess is a Clinical Psychologist who has roots in Brisbane, Australia. At the University of Queensland, Australia, Dr. Giess earned her Doctorate of Clinical Psychology and Bachelor of Arts (Psychology, Honours I). She has a general registration and clinical endorsement with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is a full member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS).

Dr. Giess has experience working with a variety of presenting difficulties, (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, anxiety, stress, and relationship difficulties) across an individual’s lifespan. She is particularly experienced in working with severe and chronic adult mental and physical health issues, both in inpatient and community settings within the public sector. Dr. Giess also has experience as a school counsellor for local and international students aged 10-18 at a private school in Australia.

Dr. Giess delivers evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema- Focused Therapy and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). She has training and experience in delivery of programs, including DBT programs for Borderline Personality Disorder, individual and group CBT for Psychosis, CBT-based groups for depression, anxiety and stress, ACT/Mindfulness groups, and Positive Parenting Programs (Triple P for Teens, Babies and Standard Stepping Stones).

Dr. Giess’ doctoral thesis is in intercultural couple relationships and relationship satisfaction. She is trained in couples relationship counselling with Emotion-Focused Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural therapy approaches. In addition, Dr Giess is experienced in conducting comprehensive cognitive assessments with multifaceted presentations, including intelligence testing, learning disorders, memory and attention difficulties, and personality disorders.
