Lilian is a veteran Counsellor, with a specialisation in Family Therapy. With 30 years of counselling experiences behind her, she has worked with pre-teens, teens, parents, young and working adults, couples, families and individuals with mental wellbeing concerns i.e. depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and anger management issues.

She is passionate about helping families cope with the changes and transitions in life; to build resilience. She is ardent about counselling couples to overcome the challenges in their relationship; build a strong, nurturing and satisfying marriage, which is foundational to their children’s and teens’ developmental growth.

Lilian is married for more than 20 years and enjoyed a blissful marriage.

Lilian has a Master’s in ‘Family and Systemic Psychotherapy,’ and a Graduate Diploma in ‘Family and Marital Therapy.’ She started as a trained social worker, majoring in Social Work and Chinese Studies from the National University of Singapore. Over the years, she has acquired competency in case management, a wealth of mental health knowledge, a repertoire of working experiences with families and couples, possessing strong analytical, assessment and skills in family therapy.
She has 30 years experiences, providing counselling and family therapy in family service centres, mental health facility, counselling centre and private practice in ‘Family Bonding.’ Families and couples find Lilian to be caring, a good listener, understanding and gentle when she creates space to talk about difficult issues. They have witnessed positive outcomes and therapeutic effects when they stay the course and commit to counselling. She connects well with children and youths and is bilingual with both English and Mandarin in family therapy.

Lilian is efficient in giving mental health & family life talks, workshops, groupwork & training in educational, corporate and church settings. She has strong presentation & facilitation skills as a Family Life Ambassador with the Ministry of Community Development, Youths and Sports. As a resource speaker with decades of experiences, she has given numerous marriages talk, marriage preparation and marriage enrichment programmes in English and Mandarin to would-be-married and married couples.

She has organised conferences for counsellors and social workers, who are passionate about working with married couples; impacted by affairs. She has also facilitated the ‘Torn Asunder’ professional practice group, for those interested to learn more about helping these couples.

Lilian has provided clinical supervision to both individual and groups of social work students, social workers, counsellors and trainees taking their advance, post-graduate diploma and master’s in counselling courses. She has supervised social worker taking supervisory role with social work students, organised department training, case conferences and provided training to the police force, schoolteachers, student care teachers, junior college lecturers, social workers, counsellors, mental health professionals & trainees taking counselling and psychotherapy courses.

In 2011, her dissertation abstract was published in the ‘Annals of Singapore Health & Biomedical Congress.’ In 2012, her research poster was presented in the conference, ‘Borderless Social Work, Partnering the Community and Clients.’

Lilian enjoys spending time with her hubby over a meal and movie. In her free time, she likes nature walk and swimming.
